Bake some grilled chicken breast using this chili sauce recipe to baste the chicken. Good with roast beef, hamburgers, meatloaf or meatballs.
1 - 32oz can crushed Tomatoes
1 medium Onion, chopped
1/4 cup chopped sweet red pepper
1 clove garlic, pressed
1 or 2 tsp crushed dried hot red pepper
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 Tbl Salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp each of Cinnamon, ground cloves, allspice, celery seed and mustard seed
Mix all ingredients in pot and bring to boil. Boil rapidly, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool then process it in a blender. Return to the heat and gently simmer for another 30 minutes or until it reaches the desired consistency.
Makes 3 to 4 cups of sauce. Store in jars in refrigerator. Sauce keeps well.
